This is my first-ever blog post, so I'll keep it short.
There are a lot of topics I want to talk about on here, including subjects I've studied during my physics and engineering education over the past few years, excursions from my independent studies in mathematics and computing, and my take on philosophy and current events in the world. But for the next couple of months, I'm going to dedicate this blog to a next step in my career that I am very excited about: I will be spending the summer at the Large Hadron Collider, as a CERN student researcher with the UMichigan REU program! I'll be posting the details of my research project soon, and from then on, documenting my adventure to prepare myself before the program starts in three weeks. I figure if I can gain at least a cursory background knowledge of every keyword and phrase in the project description, I'll be in good shape to hit the ground running. That and installing CERN's own data analysis libraries (ROOT), which has proven interesting...but I'll save that for another post. Stay tuned!
